Volvo Car India announces gender-neutral parental leave policy for employees

Volvo Car India introduces a gender-neutral parental leave policy which will allow the male employees to avail themselves up to 24 weeks i.s. 120 working days of parental leave at 80 per cent of total salary, whereas the women employees will continue to get 26 weeks of fully paid maternity leave. This policy in tune with Volvo’s global directive will make sure that both the parents are able to spend quality time with their children. The policy is applicable for all the full-time salaried employees in India with a minimum of 1-year of employment with the company. The policy has no limitation on age or marital status and includes, all mothers, fathers, same-sex parents and parents to adopted and foster children or through surrogacy.

Volvo Car India And It’s Future

The Swedish luxury car maker entered the Indian automotive market back in 2007. Fast forward to 14 years, the company has set up close to 24 dealerships located in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi NCR – South Delhi, West Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Raipur, Jaipur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, West Mumbai, South Mumbai, Pune, Raipur, Surat, Vishakhapatnam and Vijayawada. Volvo Car India had announced its plan to only sell petrol and electric cars in India from 2022.  With the growing demand for electric cars in the global market, Volvo mentioned that it will go all-electric from 2030 with online sales only, just like how Tesla is doing it right now. In terms of sales figure, Volvo has put on a target to double its volumes in the next two years and thus becoming one of the largest electric car makers by the year 2025.

The Upcoming Volvo XC40 Recharge

Volvo Car announced that the bookings for Volvo XC40 Recharge will open from June 2021 and the launch will likely happen in the month of October this year. The performance figures of the electric car rated at 408 HP of power and 660 Nm of torque makes it quite a fast car. The equipped 78 kWh battery pack provides a generous 400 Km of range on the WLTP cycle. Volvo will provide an 11 kW AC charger with the XC40 Recharge.
