Volkswagen will launch an EV for India after 2025

Volkswagen is reportedly looking to launch its first electric car in India before 2025. Initially planned to launch in 2027, Volkswagen has fast-tracked the process by two years. Based on the ID. Life concept Volkswagen showcased this electric vehicle concept recently at the IAA 2021 in Munich. The future of automotive is electric, and Volkswagen very well understands this. The company is increasing its interest in the electric domain, and the Indian market will also benefit from this. Volkswagen has mentioned that it will price the ID. Life in the EUR 20,000 bracket.

Details We Know So Far

Volkswagen aims to build this car with all the modern and advanced tech and features. Gone are the days when a car was a medium of transportation to go from point A to point B. Customers have also become well aware of advanced features and are pretty much attracted to the same. The competition these days are equipping the car with all the latest kit powered by cutting edge tech like AI and cloud. And hence to garner more sales, Volkswagen will load the vehicle full of features. The younger generation especially is very much aware of the trending technology and will wish to have them in their cars.

What Could The ID. Life offer?

In terms of mechanical, the ID. Life will have a 172 kW motor powered by a 57 kWh high-voltage battery. The WLTP claimed mileage is 400 km. Based on the Volkswagen Electric Drive Matrix, this is the first car to get a front-wheel-drive powertrain. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph to just 6.9 seconds, like a typical electric car these days. A particular board member of Volkswagen confirmed that they aim to launch this electric car to the Indian market in the second half of this decade. The company will also increase its investment in battery electric vehicles for India, which will help in curtailing the cost and thus making it affordable for customers.
