Volkswagen Virtus sales topper – Why is it popular?
As per the latest data shared by the German carmaker, the Virtus sedan has been a consistent sales topper in the segment. The brand has managed to sell 61,564 units of Virtus in India itself. Mind you, Virtus is made in India but exported to other countries like Latin America.
In fact, Virtus is so popular in the domestic market that it sold 1,707 units of Virtus in May’25 itself. Moreover, it holds a 32% market share as of 2025 till now. The total 1.43 lakh (cumulative) sales figure of the Virtus is significantly higher than its rivals, including the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and its sibling Skoda Slavia.
But why is it so popular? Launched back in 2022, Volkswagen stepped into the dying sedan segment once again after it had discontinued the Vento and Jetta sedans in the past. However, Virtus immediately grabbed attention among the enthusiasts due to its timeless classic design.
Additionally, the main reason behind its popularity became its powerful performance and top-notch road manners. VW’s new 1.0 TSI motor was welcomed by budget-oriented buyers, as it offered a thrilling performance. Meanwhile, the 1.5 TSI motor offered punch and efficiency altogether.
At present, the Virtus sedan is priced between Rs 11.56 lakh to Rs 19.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec model comes loaded with all the bells and whistles, including electric and ventilated seats, LED lights, digital cockpit, wireless phone connectivity, and more.
