In the latest press note, Volkswagen India has shared the rear design and interior details of the upcoming Tiguan R-Line. The sporty R-Line model of the new-gen Tiguan will get a connected LED taillight setup along with a sporty rear bumper design.

The R-Line is itself the ‘race’ moniker for Volkswagen cars worldwide. While the R-Line models are usually equipped with bigger and more powerful engines than the standard models, the Tiguan is going to use the 2.0 TFSI petrol motor from the standard variant.

Embracing the cosmetic updates from the R-Line models, the upcoming Tiguan will get six monotone exterior colour options. Additionally, the cabin design will offer the latest Volkswagen key highlights from the bigger models internationally.

These include the big infotainment screen, R-Line badge on the leather seats, an illuminated R-Line logo on the dashboard, aluminium pedal covers, front sport comfort seats, ambient lights with 30 colour adjustability, and a big panoramic sunroof.

Moving on, the critical part is its pricing, as the company will sell it as a CBU (completely built unit) model in India. This clearly means that it will be priced higher than the segment, maybe north of Rs 45 lakh.

Our verdict

The launch of the new Tiguan R-Line is seen more like a ray of hope for enthusiasts in India. It is a Euro-spec model that will offer the brand’s best engineering and perfection. To make space for it, Volkswagen has already delisted the old Tiguan model from its official website.
