The Tigaun R-Line is based on the MQB Evo platform that structures a length of 4.5 meters. It is a sporty iteration of the 2025 Tiguan model, as it comes loaded with plenty of sporty highlights in the global market.

Its front design comprises twin-pod LED headlights with a connected light stripe and a big honeycomb design with a piano black gloss grille. The sporty bumper and the R badge make it stand apart from the regular Tiguan model.

The cabin design and layout on the R-Line model are unchanged from the standard model. However, it is equipped with sporty highlights that include red accents, sporty black leather seats, brushed aluminium panels, sporty race pedals, and more.

Feature-wise, it comes loaded with a 12.9-inch floating infotainment screen, a 10.3-inch digital instrument console, wireless phone connectivity, ambient lights with 30 colour customisations, and the latest MIB4 software with OTA updates.

Tigaun R-Line engine and specifications

Globally, VW offers multiple engine options for the Tigaun R-Line. These include mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and diesel powertrain options. All of these powertrain options come mated with automatic gearbox options that include a 6-speed TC and a 7-speed DSG.

The latter two powertrain options also come equipped with the 4Motion AWD drivetrain as standard. The VW officials have not confirmed which engine and gearbox the Indian-spec will offer.

Lastly, the pricing of the Tiguan R-Line will be much higher than the current model. The current car retails at Rs 38.17 lakh (ex-showroom); the new model will be a CBU, and it will easily cost north of Rs 50 lakh.

Our verdict

The Tiguan R-Line is going to be positioned as a sporty vehicle meant only for enthusiasts. VW knows that the CBU models are not meant for sales volume, and hence, the company has already confronted this fact in the press release. Irrespective of the pricing, the Tiguan R-Line will surely a hoot to drive.
