Volkswagen in the past announced its plans to launch the all-new Volkswagen Compact SUV for the global markets. Reports now reveal that the SUV will soon break cover and it is currently known by its internal name AO. According to reports, the brand is also likely to call the new compact SUV Yeh. However, this name could be for the international markets. Also, sources say that the prototype mule of the car is expected in Brazil soon. However, its global debut is not likely to be before next year.
Volkswagen AO
The Volkswagen’s AO is likely to be positioned below the Taigun SUV and is likely to use the MQB AO platform. Furthermore, the platform is similar to the MQB-AO-IN which underpins the Virtus and Taigun vehicles in the Indian market. However, in the south American markets the platform underpins a number of VW Group cars as well.
Expected Features
Design-wise, the Volkswagen AO is likely to feature a sharp front fascia and straight cuts and crease lines typical of Volkswagen cars. However, the AO could get a lot of modern features as well as a reasonably spacious cabin, since reports reveal that the wheelbase of the compact SUV is likely to be around 2500 mm. Also, modern features such as connected front LED DRLs and rear LED taillamps are likely to be seen on the Volkswagen AO. Also, the AO could gets a sloping roofline giving the car a coupe-esque rear end, reveal reports.
Skoda Compact SUV
Further details of the Volkswagen AO are scarce, however, more details of the compact SUV are likely to be revealed in the near future. Meanwhile Skoda has announced a new SUV for the Indian market which has already been christened “Kylaq”. This compact SUV has been positioned under the Kushaq and is likely to share its platform with the AO.
