Written by Tejen Dhankhar

With new guidelines from the FIA, Volkswagen has started working on the next-generation Polo WRC car. The German brand has now revealed official sketches of the upcoming rally model.

The brand claims that the new Polo WRC will be more powerful & faster than the current model.

So what were the new regulations that led to the development of a new car? Well, the news regulations mandate that the cars must be 3.9 metres in length and 1,175 kgs in weight.

Powering the new car is a 1.6L, turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces a healthy 378 BHP (60 BHP more than the outgoing car). This has been done successfully by widening the air restrictor to 36mm from 33mm.

New car will be put to the real world test when the next season starts from January 2017 in Monte Carlo.
