Volkswagen Golf GTI India launch complete details
In a latest advancement, Volkswagen India has revealed its future plans for introducing new models. The announcement has spread joy among VW enthusiasts that the Golf GTI, a highly popular hot hatchback, will now be landing on Indian turf.
As per the company, the Golf GTI will make its India debut by the Q2 of 2025. It will be brought and sold as a CBU model, so the prices are definitely going to be north of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
However, that does not put away the fact that the Golf brand has been renowned for its super fun-to-drive nature and a powerful engine that is tuner-friendly as well.
The latest Golf GTI is based on the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (EA888) engine that makes a whopping 265 bhp and 370 Nm of peak power and torque. It is mated with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox options globally. However, the Indian-spec version will only get the latter combination.
With its powerful engine and quick gearbox, the Golf GTI can do a sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. Moreover, the top speed of the hot hatchback has been limited to a whopping 250 km/h internationally.
On the feature front, it will come loaded with the 18-inch GTI alloy wheels and GTI badging on the outside. Meanwhile, its cabin will offer the latest features like the 12.9-inch floating infotainment screen, a digital instrument console with GTI-spec race graphics, GTI-spec steering wheel with Alcantara leather wrap, GTI-spec seats, and more.
The exact launch date for the Golf GTI has not been revealed, but it will debut before the end of the Q2, which means that it will possibly launch in the April- June timeline. As it will be a CBU model, its price tag will be north of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Golf GTI is a renowned hot hatchback that is known for its blistering performance and tuner-friendly mechanical setup. While it will come at a high price tag in India, VW says that it does not aim to sell in volume. Hence, it is going to be a pure enthusiast machine.
