VinFast VF7 EV India details – What to expect?

VinFast VF7 electric car is going to be the first product offering from the Vietnamese carmaker in India. The brand has already announced that it will debut in India around the upcoming festive season.

Ahead of the official launch, the company has started testing the VF7 in India to test and note the changes needed to be made. The recent spy images have surfaced from Mumbai, where a Jet Black colour VF7 was seen without any camouflage.

While it is not the first time that a VinFast car has been spotted, what makes it interesting is that it has India-spec alloys and tyres. The international-spec model VF7 gets 20-inch low-profile tyres and alloys, while the test car seen here has 19-inch alloys and Apollo tyres.

The smaller tyre profile will increase the ride comfort, a tactic used by many manufacturers while launching a global car in India. Moreover, the rest of the car has a similar design and exterior features as seen on the global-spec.

VinFast offers the VF7 in two variants in the global market. These include Eco and Plus versions, where Eco is a FWD model with 204 bhp, 310 Nm power and torque, and offers a WLTP range of 450 km.

Meanwhile, the Plus version is an AWD with dual-electric motors, generating 354 bhp and 500 Nm of power and torque, along with 431 km WLTP-claimed range.

The pricing of the VF7 will be announced during the festive season this year. It will be locally produced in Tamil Nadu, and its estimated price range will be Rs 25-30 lakh.

Our verdict

VinFast electric cars are renowned in the South Asian market for their quality, performance, and value-for-money packaging. The Vietnamese carmaker will try to make the best out of the expanding EV space in India with the launch of VF7.
