VinFast Confident in Achieving 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating for VF6 and VF7

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast is preparing to enter the Indian market with its VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs, and the company is targeting a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for both models. This move aligns with VinFast’s strategy to establish itself as a premium EV brand, offering high safety standards and advanced technology.

Safety features and crash protection

To meet Bharat NCAP’s stringent safety requirements, VinFast has equipped the VF6 and VF7 with:

  • Seven airbags as standard, ensuring occupant protection.
  • Level 2 ADAS, featuring lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.
  • Heads-up display (HUD), reducing driver distraction by projecting key information onto the windshield.

Unlike traditional instrument clusters, the VF6 and VF7 display speed, range, and other critical data on the touchscreen’s driver-side corner, supplemented by the HUD system.

Modifications for Indian road conditions

VinFast has tailored the VF6 and VF7 for Indian roads, incorporating:

  • Higher ground clearance (190mm) for better adaptability.
  • Apollo tires, ensuring optimal grip and durability.
  • Ventilated front seats, addressing India’s hot climate.
  • Wireless phone charger, catering to modern connectivity needs.

The company has also optimized the air conditioning compressor and added a heat shield for the fixed glass roof, preventing excessive cabin heating.

Production and launch timeline

VinFast will assemble the VF6 and VF7 in India, with production set to begin by July 2025. The official market launch is expected before the end of the year, with initial sales projected at 50,000 units, later expanding to 1.50 lakh units
