Updated Mahindra Bolero spotted testing

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to update their popular MUV, the Mahindra Bolero. The updated Mahindra Bolero has been spotted testing and will get the new safety compliance features. The spyshots suggest that the updated version is nearly identical to the current model and may receive some cosmetic changes on the exterior, like a redesigned front grille.

The current Mahindra Bolero is powered by two engine variants – a 2.5-litre, m2DiCR engine which produces 62 HP of power @ 3200 RPM and 195 Nm of torque @ 1400-2200 RPM coupled to an all-synchromesh NGT 520, 5-speed gearbox with overdrive 5th gear. You can also buy a mHawk, D70, 1.5-litre engine which produces 70 BHP @ 3600 RPM and 195 Nm of torque @ 1499-2200 RPM coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and an ARAI certified mileage of 16.5 kmpl. This engine is currently on the Bolero Power+ variant.

The vehicle in the spy shots is seen with a mHawk D70 badge on the front fender leading us to believe that it is the Power+ variant.

The suspension on the Bolero is an independent with coil spring and anti-roll bar on the front and elliptical leaf spring on the rear. The brake setup is a hydraulic disc on front and drum brakes on the rear. The Bolero measures in at 4107mm long, 1745mm in width and it is 1880mm tall with a wheelbase of 2680mm. Whereas the Bolero Power+ is shorter in length and measures in at 3995 mm.

The Bolero ZLX, the top-trim variant is styled with muscular bumpers on the front, body coloured ORVMs, Hawkeye clear headlamps, and bumper-integrated fog lamps. The interior trim offers stylish ergonomic seats with centre armrests on the rear seat, air-conditioning vents and digital instrument cluster.

The new updated version is expected to receive safety features such as airbags and anti-lock brakes as standard, reverse parking sensors, over-speed indicator and seat belt reminder for both driver and passenger in accordance with the new safety standards. It is also expected that the new updated Bolero gets a BSVI compliant engine apart from the safety features.
