Bajaj Chetak 3503 base model – what will be different?
The newly spotted test unit of the upcoming base variant of the Chetak bears low-grade specs. The notable changes include the use of basic blacked-out mirrors, black body cladding and a footwell area that is body-coloured on the top-spec variant. It also gets basic cubby holes, unlike the closed ones on the top variant.
Moreover, the test unit is seen using a basic alloy wheel design and drum brakes, which is going to be a major cost saver. Additionally, it uses an LCD screen that will likely display the necessary information like battery, range, and support Bluetooth connectivity as well.
Clearly, the new 3503 variant will be a base model and it will focus more on the cost-cutting to make the Chetak moniker more affordable. Meanwhile, we believe that Bajaj will not change the battery pack and electric motor on this variant to save further costs.
We assume that Bajaj will introduce the new 3503 variant of Chetak in the coming weeks. It can be priced at around Rs 1.10 lakh as per online rumours.

Our verdict
Bajaj has certainly built a good brand value in the clumsy electric two-wheeler segment in India. Its main rival remains the TVS iQbue which also offers an equivalent value and performance. However, TVS has been lately struggling with poor service and that’s where Bajaj enjoys an upper hand on it. A new low-cost variant will be the perfect solution to expand Chetak’s market share.
