Aprilia Tuono 457 – naked, fast, and affordable?

Aprilia RS 457 has turned out to be a remarkable product for the company’s dying portfolio in India. The middle-weight sports bike gathered numerous buyers within the span of a few days of its launch. Now, the second motorcycle on the 457 platform is being readied for the launch.

Aprilia will expectedly debut the new Tuono 457, a naked version based on the RS 457, in the third week of February. The launch date is rumoured to be 17/18 February, which is pending confirmation from the official side.

Meanwhile, the Tuono was showcased at the EICMA’24 and it gathered a lot of audience due to its impeccably similar design to its elder siblings. The iconic Tuono design will now be available with the 457cc parallel-twin engine that makes 47 bhp and 43.5 Nm of peak power and torque.

It will be an interesting choice for customers who want the powerful Aprilia engine but with a relatively relaxed riding position to the RS 457. The upcoming Tuono will get a minimalistic design with a sculpted fuel tank and split seat. Moreover, its wheelbase might be shortened to provide better manoeuvrability for city riding.

In terms of features, it will be equipped with the beautiful TFT console carried over from the RS 457 itself. This cluster supports Bluetooth connectivity and other features like traction control, ride modes, and more.

The expected price of the Tuono 457 is Rs 3.90 lakh ex-showroom, and it will rival the KTM 390 Duke head-on after its launch in India.

Our verdict

The Tuono brand image is strong in European countries as the bigger capacity Tuono bikes have been sold for years there. However, the Indian market is loving the more affordable 457cc platform and the Tuono will give the taste of practicality and comfort to the buyers who want an Aprilia.
