UM Motorcycles enter joint venture with Lohia Auto

UM Motorcycles has entered a joint venture with UP based company, Lohia Auto, to invesr Rs. 120 crres for the launch of their products in the Indian market.

As we reported earlier, the first offering will be a cruiser motorcycle, which will be manufactured locally. The Renegade Commando is powered by a 223cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It produces 18 BHP of power @ 8,000 RPM and 15.5 Nm of torque @ 5,500 RPM.

A production facility will be built in Kashipur, UK, with an annual capacity of 1 lakh motorcycles. Production is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2015. The company also plans to export bikes built in India to markets in Africa, ASEAN countries, Latin America etc.

Pricing of the Renegade Commando is expected to be in the range of Rs. 1.25 lakh.
