The TVS XL100 now features for the first time an electronic fuel injection system called EcoThrust Fuel Injection Technology (ETFi) that assures better performance as well as efficiency. The new BS6 compliant engine claims to be more efficient and claims to have a bumped up the mileage by 15% as compared to the BS4 predecessor. 

In the engine department, the XL100 Heavy Duty is powered by a BS6 emission compliant 99.7cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that produces 4.4 ps of power and 6.5 Nm of torque matched to a single-speed gearbox with a centrifugal wet clutch and a chain-type final drive. The XL100 comes with a 1228mm wheelbase, a 4-litre fuel tank, telescopic spring type hydraulic front suspension and twin hydraulic shocks mounted on the rear swingarm. The TVS XL100 comes equipped with 110mm diameter mechanically operated drum brake with expanding shoes with sync braking technology. The TVS XL100 weighs in at 85.5 kgs dry and has a 130 kg payload-carrying capacity. 

In terms of styling, the TVS XL100 comes with a classic moped design with rounded headlights, LED bar style daytime running lights, mobile charging, large seats, ergonomic upright handlebar, low mounted engine and exhaust system, metal grab rail for the pillion, footbed and features such as low-fuel indicator, analogue speedometer, iTOUCHstart push-button start/stop with an engine kill switch integrated into one button, OBD-I (On-Board Diagnostics) with a self-diagnostic system etc.

The TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty has a rich history in India and the brand has sold more than 1.25 crore examples across the country since its inception in the year 1980. In those 40 years, the brand has sold one TVS XL every 40 seconds. The TVS XL back then was used on roads as well as on race tracks. In 1986 the brand introduced the TVS XT, followed by the TVS Champ in 1987, TVS Eko in 1988, TVS Express in 1991, TVS Astra Euro Champ in 1992, TVS Super Champ in 1995, the XL Super in 1997, XL Super HD in 1999, TVS sport in the year 2000 and then the model was shelved for 15 years before being revived back in 2015 with the TVS XL100. The TVS XL100 was upgraded to XL100 Heavy Duty in 2017 and XL100 Heavy Duty iTOUCHstart and a new XL100 Comfort in 2018. And now in 2020, it has again been upgraded with a BS6 compliant engine.
