TVS has taken the wraps off its latest electric scooter. The TVS X is priced at INR 2.50 lakh, ex-showroom. Note, FAME subsidy is not applicable for this scooter.
TVS X : Design Details
In terms of design, the TVS X is more of a maxi scooter. However, it has a seat height of 770 mm. Hence, it doesn’t get a floorboard like a conventional scooter. Instead the frame of the scooter occupies it. The scooter features a solid seat design as well. TVS offers 19-litres of under seat storage with the electric X.
Coming to the features, the scooter comes with a large 10.25-inch adjustable display. It comes with Bluetooth connectivity along with music playback and turn-by-turn navigation. TVS also allows the dash to be used to play games or watch videos when stationary. This is possible thanks to the PlayTech system. Rider features like reverse assists, cruise control and hill hold are also offered with the TVS X.
The X comes with front telescopic fork suspension and a rear mono shock. Braking duties are handled by a 220 mm disc at the front and a 195 mm disc at the back. Uniquely, the TVS X comes with single channel ABS, making it the first electric scooter to have this feature in India. TVS is offering 12-inch rims on the X with 100-section front and 110-section rear rubber.
Powertrain of the TVS X
The new TVS X is based on the company’s XLETON platform. It gets a ram-air cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). Thanks to this, the X is rated at 7 kW power with a peak power of 11 kW. TVS has equipped a large 4.44 kWh battery on the X. TVS claims a range of 140 km on a single charge (IDC) and a top speed of 105 km/h. Meanwhile the 0-40 km/h time is claimed to be 2.6 seconds.
Buyers will get a choice of two chargers – a 950 W portable charger of a 3 kW fixed charger. The fast charger can top up 50 percent of battery in 50 mins while a 0-80 percent top up will take 4.5 hours with the portable charger. Users get three riding modes – Xtealth, Xtride and Xonic.
Launch timeline of the TVS X
Bookings for the scooter have opened tonight while the deliveries will commence by November 2023 in Bangalore. Meanwhile, deliveries in the rest of the country will commence by March 2023.
The first 2,000 owners will get a smartwatch along with a special ‘Curated Concierge’ package worth INR 18,000 for free.
