TVS sold 250,933 two-wheelers in December 2021

TVS Motor Company announces its sales report for December 2021. The two-wheeler maker has sold over 250,933 units for the given month. The same for December 2020 stood at 272,084 units. The sales are on the decline, and there are numerous reasons to assert the same. The Covid-19 situation has not been at all favourable for the automotive industry. Meanwhile, the current trend to opt for electric vehicles is also playing an important role. The demand for electric vehicles is at an all-time high, with customers making a shift away from traditional ICE vehicles.

Detailed Sales Analysis

Two-Wheeler

In this segment, TVS registered a total sales of 235,392 units in December 2021. Meanwhile, the same for December 2020, stood at 258,239 units. In the domestic market, the sales stood at 146,763 units, down from 176,912 units in December 2020. Motorcycles’ sales grew by 12 per cent, as the figure for December 2021 stood at 119,051 units. The figure for December 2020, stood at 77,705 units.

International Business

In terms of export, TVS’s figure grew by 10 per cent. The export figure for December 2021 was 103,420 units, up from 94,269 units in December 2020. In the two-wheeler segment, the export figure for December 2020 stood at 81,327 units, as against 88,629 units for December 2021. This translates to a growth of 9 per cent.

Three-Wheeler

For the three-wheeler segment, TVS posted a growth of 12 per cent. The figure rose from 13,845 units in December 2020 to 15,541 units in December 2021.

Third Quarter Performance

For the Q3 of FY 2020-21, TVS posted a total sales of 8.3 lakh units in the two-wheeler segment. The same, when compared to the third quarter of the previous year, stood at 9.5 lakhs. For three-wheelers, the sales of the company grew by almost 17 per cent. The figure rose from 0.38 lakh units in the third quarter of FY20 to 0.44 lakh units for FY21. In terms of export, TVS posted a growth of 13 per cent. The figure grew from 2.6 lakh units in the third quarter of FY20 to 2.9 lakh units for the third quarter of the current financial year.
