Thanks to scooter sales, a segment which Bajaj Auto is not present in currently, TVS Motor has bagged the third spot from Bajaj Auto in Indian two-wheeler sales.

TVS Motor’s sales for the April – June quarter and also, sales for the month of June have exceeded those of Bajaj Auto according to the data issued by SIAM.

TVS Motor sells a range of 4 scooters (Jupiter, Wego, Scooty Streak, Scooty Pep+), 1 moped (XL HD – 2 Stroke) and 5 motorcycles (Apache RTR, Phoenix 125, Max 4R, Star City+ and Sport)  in India. Whereas, Bajaj Auto has a range of only 4 motorcycles (Avenger, Pulsar, Discover and Platina). TVS Motor has sold more than one lakh scooters in the first quarter, which has given them an edge over Bajaj Auto in a segment which has grown 29% to 10.10 lakh units in the first quarter.

Where Bajaj is happy with the claims of being the most profitable two-wheeler company in India, TVS Motor will surely try and defend their current position with the upcoming launches. This financial year, TVS is expected to launch the Scooty Zest scooter along with the TVS Victor and TVS Apache motorcycles.
