Triumph reveals Rocket 3 R & 3 GT 221 special edition

British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has unveiled the special edition of Rocket 3 R and 3 GT roadster motorbikes. Triumph India’s website has listed the special edition, suggesting that the bikes will arrive in the country. The brand has not announced the pricing of the special edition bikes but plans to launch them in December 2021. Triumph will offer the exclusive special edition of the Rocket 3 duo for just one year worldwide upon its launch. The special edition of the bikes signifies the largest production engine with the highest torque figure for a two-wheeler.

Triumph Rocket 3 R & 3 GT 221 special edition: Design Details 

Triumph features an exclusive Red Hopper paint scheme on the fuel tanks with ‘221’ graphics and front mudguards. The special editions feature graphics representing performance numbers such as torque, engine size, power, bore, and stroke on the tank top. The special edition Rocket 3 bikes also sport ‘Sapphire Black’ on the rear mudguard, flyscreen, bodywork, and front fascia. Other design elements include ‘221’ knee pad graphics with Triumph badging on both ends.

Triumph Rocket 3 R & 3 GT 221 special edition: Technical Specs 

Powering the Rocket 3 duo is a 2458cc, inline three-cylinder, water-cooled engine, the largest production motorbike engine. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, the engine produces 167 PS of power and 221 Nm of torque. The Rocket 3 special editions feature a full aluminium frame with 17-inch front aluminium wheels and 16-inch aluminium rear wheels.

Differentiating the two bikes are the roadster-style handlebars on the 3 R and touring-oriented ones on the 3 GT. Other differences include the seat height on the 3 R at 750 mm and 773 mm on the 3 GT. Both special edition bikes sport 47 mm, upside-down, Showa front forks with a fully-adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear.

The bikes also sport a 120 mm travel on the front wheel and 107 mm rear-wheel travel. Both bikes feature 320 mm dual Brembo front brake discs with 4-piston callipers and ABS for braking performance. At the rear, the bikes sport a 300 mm single Brembo brake disc with a 4-piston calliper and ABS.

Triumph offers both special edition Rocket 3’s with features such as a TFT multi-functional instrument pack with a digital speedometer. The instrument pack displays a trip computer, digital tachometer, gear position indicator, fuel gauge, service indicator, and ambient temperature. Both bikes offer four riding modes- Rain, Road, Sport, and Rider to enhance rider convenience and performance. Other notable features include cruise control, a USB charging socket, optional Bluetooth connectivity, and traction control.

Triumph offers a host of genuine accessories for its Rocket 3 duo to enhance comfort, practicality, style, and security. Tested for quality and durability, these accessories include the Triumph Shift Assist up/down quickshifter and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Triumph also offers a comfort seat, a sports screen, tracking, and alarm systems. For carrying luggage while touring, the brand offers an aluminum retractable and lockable pannier mounting system. For the special edition bikes and genuine accessories, Triumph offers a two-year unlimited mileage warranty.
