Written by Nizam Shaikh

Toyota revealed the new Innova Crysta facelift in the Indonesian market where the premium MPV is marketed as the Kijang Innova. The MPV was revealed through leaked brochures and was also spotted testing sans camouflage in the country. Now, sources indicate that the facelift model has also made its way to the Indian market and dealerships have started accepting bookings for the facelift model. Unconfirmed reports also suggest that the facelift Innova Crysta is likely to be INR 60,000 to INR 100,000 more expensive on the road than the predecessor.

The facelift Kijang Innova spotted in Indonesia comes with a redesigned front fascia featuring a new design radiator grille that seamlessly integrates the headlamps, new headlamp inserts, slightly updated front bumper with triangular front fog lamp housings, new-design 16-inch alloy wheels on the standard model and larger 17-inch alloys on the Touring Sport iteration which also gets a new tailgate-mounted spoiler. The rear end along with the taillamps are likely to remain unchanged.

The interiors too are likely to remain largely unchanged with new add-ons such as a new air purifier, a larger infotainment system with the latest generation telematics, new rear entertainment package, ambient lighting and a rearview camera. The Innova Crysta facelift is also likely to feature safety features such as dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, knee airbags, vehicle stability control and hill assist control.

In the engine department, the Toyota Innova Crysta is expected to feature the same engine line-up as it was recently upgraded to the new stringent BS6 emission standards. The current model is powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel mill that produces 150 PS of power and 343 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox and 360 Nm of torque with the 6-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission. The Innova Crysta in India also comes with a BS6 compliant 2.7-litre four-cylinder Dual VVT petrol motor that produces 166 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual and an optional 6-speed sequential-shift automatic gearbox.
