Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder image leaks before global debut, Hyundai Creta rival

Written by Rohit Tonapi

Ahead of its unveiling on 1st July 2022, we now have an image showing the front end of the upcoming Toyota Hyryder. The image was leaked on Instagram during an ad shoot for the new SUV. The Maruti Suzuki will also reveal its iteration of the SUV soon after Toyota’s unveiling.

The new SUV will be the third product under the Suzuki-Toyota global partnership. The previous ones were the Glanza and Urban Cruiser. However, unlike them, the new SUV won’t just get subtle styling tweaks and different badges. The changes will be similar to Hyundai and Kia. Both, Creta and Seltos share engines, parts and more. However, they have their own identities because of vastly different exteriors and interiors.

Toyota Hyryder Leaked Image – What Do We Get To See?

The SUV seen in the image appears to be the top-end variant because of the dual-tone finish. We knew from the previous leaks that Toyota was going to name it the Hyryder. However, interestingly the nameplate on the car also shows the prefix ‘Urban Cruiser’. It is strange because that is also the name of Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

The front of the SUV gets a large grille with a chrome strip running across it. Furthermore, highlighting the chrome strip is the black surround for the grille. The headlight also gets a split design. There are twin LED DRLs on each side. Below the DRLs sit the headlights in a black surround. As this is also the only leaked pic, we don’t know other details of the side or rear.

Maruti Suzuki’s version of the SUV will likely get different styling. Sources suggest it will draw inspiration from the A-Cross’ LED DRLs. The front grille will also likely be similar to the new Baleno and Ertiga. In the centre of the grille will be a large Suzuki logo.
