Toyota Hilux pickup truck has started reaching dealerships in India

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Toyota Hilux has been spotted at dealerships across the country. Recently, a Hilux was spotted at a showroom in Nagaland. Hilux is a lifestyle based pickup truck that will directly compete against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the country. Based on the underpinnings of the Innova and Fortuner, the Hilux will arrive in India with a dual-cab body style. The overall dimension of Hilux measures 5,285 mm in length, with a wheelbase of 3,085 mm.

As of now, we know that the Hilux might arrive with two diesel engine options. One is the 2.4-litre unit that powers the Innova. The performance figure for this unit stands at 150 PS and 400 Nm. Meanwhile, the other engine option is a 2.8-litre motor that powers the Fortuner. For this, the output figure stands at 204 PS and 500 Nm. Toyota will most likely give two gearbox options with the Hilux, which is a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission.

What Do We Know So Far?

Toyota Hilux carrying a typical SUV look gets a large imposing grille with a thick chrome frame. Other key highlights include alloy wheels, side steps, chrome ORVM caps, and more chrome on the rear bumper. This particular Hilux seen outside a showroom in Nagaland seems to be a lower trim. We say so because there’s no fog lamp and plastic body cladding around the wheel arches.

We do not have many details about the interiors of the pickup truck. But, we expect Toyota to follow the design language of Fortuner’s interiors in the Hilux as well. And hence we expect to see a similar layout that includes a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a push start/stop button and more. As of now, we do not have the official price and launch timeline of the Hilux. And we understand Toyota will put on a sticker price in the range of INR 25 to INR 30 lakhs (ex-showroom).
