Toyota India today announced its price hike for Urban Cruiser and Glanza. TKM mentioned that the new prices will be applicable starting from 1st May 2022. Toyota is not the only carmaker that has announced its price hike. A host of other automotive companies have made similar announcements in the recent few months. This is because of the rising cost of input materials and the disruption in the global supply chain.
What’s The Updated Price?
With the price hike, Toyota Glanza now starts from INR 6,39,000, which is for the base E trim with the manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the top of the line V trim with the AMT gearbox retails at INR 9,69,000. Customers have four trims to choose from namely, E S, G and V. For the Urban Cruiser, prices start from INR 8,87,000 for the base trim with the manual gearbox. Customers looking for the fully loaded trim, which is the Premium AT, will have to see through the price tag of INR 11,58,000. All the prices mentioned are for ex-showroom.
Toyota’s Upcoming New SUV
The carmaker has been quite successful in the country and recently also breached the 2 million sales figure. And with its global partnership with Suzuki, Toyota is exploring various options. We have already seen the examples of Glanza and Urban Cruiser, how both the companies are collaborating to build a strong portfolio.
As per the latest rumours, this alliance is currently also working on an SUV that will take on the ever-popular Hyundai Creta. The latest news was that the trial production has already started for this SUV. As we understand, we could see the car in the flesh before the festive season this year. We are also expecting Toyota to use the Hybrid powertrain system with this SUV. As reports suggest, Toyota will provide two petrol engine options, the first is a mild hybrid, and meanwhile second will have a strong hybrid unit.
