Toyota is planning to launch an entry level variant for the Fortuner SUV powered by a 2.5L diesel engine next month.
Currently, the Fortuner is powered by a 3.0L, D-4D, 4-cylinder diesel motor which pumps out 171 PS of power and 343 Nm of torque. This engine comes with a 2WD MT, 2WD AT and a 4WD MT.
The new 2.5L diesel engine will be available only with a manual transmission and will produce identical power figures.
Also, Toyota is planing to introduce a 3.0L 4WD AT, which will be the top of the line variant.
The next-generation Fortuner was spotted testing in Thailand recently, but the market launch is still some time away. With these new engine options, Toyota plans to hold on to potential customers.
