This could be the new Hyundai Santro, launch in October 2018

Hyundai’s upcoming hatchback, the AH2 as it is codenamed so far will make a debut in the coming weeks. It is expected that the brand will unveil the new car next week, while the launch is scheduled for 23rd October 2018. This AH2 compact car is most likely to be called Santro. So the Santro nameplate will be making a comeback.

These are the clearest spyshots coming out ahead of the cars debut. As you can see, at the front you have a wide grille on the bumper itself, with chrome accents. There are high mounted fog lamps and crystal lens headlamps as well. No LED DRLs were seen in these spyshots. The design looks very different, unlike any other Hyundai small car on sale in our market. At the back, the profile bears resemblance to the Grand i10 and has a new small tail lamp, reverse camera, rear wash + wipe.

Inside, one can easily spot the large touchscreen infotainment system. Power window switches are placed behind the gear knob, and not conventionally placed on the door pads. The new Santro will get beige + black interiors, and the dashboard gets silver accents as well. Rear seats have fixed neck restraints. The instrument console is not clearly seen in these pictures.

This car, the AH2, or the Santro how we like to call it will be powered by a 1.1L Epsilon petrol engine matched to a 5-speed manual or 5-Speed AMT gearbox. The car is expected to deliver over 20 kmpl of mileage.
