Thinking about a Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 Twin?

Written by Nizam Shaikh

If you were dreaming about the Royal Enfield Himalayan with a 650cc twin-engine, your dream just turned into reality. A UK-based customer house Cooperb Motorcycles have brought together the Royal Enfield Interceptor and the Himalayan. Aptly, the company has named the project Interlayan which is the combination of the Interceptor and Himalayan. The custom motorcycle will use the Interceptor 650 engine and platform and the majority of changes are in the styling department.

Royal Enfield Interlayan – Design Highlights

The Royal Enfield Interlayan features the fuel tank and jerry can holders from the Himalayan that is currently on sale. The Interlayan also gets the rounded headlamp and the tall touring style windscreen. However, the instruments cluster has been borrowed from the Interceptor. The custom motorcycle also features knuckle guards with a cross-bar equipped handlebar and straight bench seats. Cooperb Motorcycles have also added luggage panniers and a tail rack to offer the motorcycle long-distance touring advantage. The Interlayan also gets spoke wheels with golden rims and black spokes shod in dual-sport tyres.

Royal Enfield Interlayan – Technical Highlights

Powering the Royal Enfield Interlayan will be the same 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin-cylinder engine. The brand has equipped the engine with a two-into-one S&S exhaust system. In its standard form, the engine produces 47 Bhp of power and 52 Nm of torque. The motor comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch. The four-valve engine features twin throttle bodies and a Bosch electronic fuel injection and engine management system. In the suspension department, Cooperb Motorcycles have made specific changes to optimise it for both on and off-road. However, details are currently sparse.

Royal Enfield custom enthusiasts in India could also get inspiration from the Interlayan. This leads us to believe that the Interceptor X Himalayan will also fruit in the Indian market as well thanks to its popularity.
