Tata Zest starts rolling out from Ranjangaon plant

The latest compact sedan from Tata Motors has started rolling out from the Tata-Fiat manufacturing facility located at Ranjangaon. Images doing the rounds on the internet suggest that the car has now entered production. The same plant also manufactures the Tata Mansa sedan.

The Tata Zest will be powered by both, petrol and diesel engines. One can chose between the 1.2L 4-cylinder, 89 BHP turbocharged petrol engine or the 1.3L Fiat sourced, 89 BHP Quadrajet diesel engine. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel will also get an AMT (Automated manual transmission).

Tata Motors is betting big on the Zest and Bolt which are soon to be launched in the market. With sales figures going down month on month, for quite some time, the company now expects an upwards change in the sales fortunes. It is also being rumoured that Tata will offer a 6 year warranty on these vehicles during the initial phase. This 6 year warranty is broken up into 3 years standard and 3 years extended warranty.

The Zest, when launched, will fight against the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Honda Amaze, the recently launched Hyundai Xcent and the upcoming Ford Figo sedan.
