Tata Motors has officially announced that it will launch the Zest compact sedan on 12th of August, 2014. The company has already started accepting pre-launch bookings for the Zest for Rs. 21,000.
The Zest is a typical Tata vehicle to look at, considering the silhouette. The overall body structure is similar to what we have seen from the brand previously. The Zest is built on a reworked version of the X1 platform which is also used on the Vista and Manza. But even though the car looks as you would expect a Tata product to look like, the car is all new now. The car is packed with features on the inside, as well as on the exteriors and is a better product than any other Tata product available in the market currently. Even the fit and finish is visibly better than before.
The Zest will be offered in two engine options. The 1.3L Fiat sourced diesel engine producing 89 BHP of power. And an all-new, 1.2L, turbocharged petrol motor producing 89 BHP of power, falling under Tata’s Revotron engine family. Both the petrol and diesel variants will be powered by a 5-speed manual gearbox, however, what is a segment first, is that the diesel will get an automated manual transmission (AMT) as well. The car is also expected to be offered with a 6-year warranty package.
The Zest will pick up the fight against the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the Honda Amaze. It will be manufactured at the Tata-Fiat Ranjangaon facility near Pune.
