Tata just launched a new all-electric sedan in the Indian market. The brand now has two all-electric products for sale to the general public – the Tata Tigor EV and the Tata Nexon EV. Like the Tata Nexon EV, the Tata Tigor EV also comes with a Ziptron powered powertrain. The powertrain is tried and tested for both performance and efficiency. Tata Tigor EV Vs. Nexon EV – Price & Variants

The Tata Tigor EV comes with four variants – XE, XM, XZ+ and XZ+ DT. The XE entry-level trim comes with a price tag of INR 11.99 lakh ex-showroom. The mid-spec XM trim is priced at INR 12.49 lakh ex-showroom. The top-spec XZ+ some with a sticker price of INR 12.99 lakh ex-showroom. And the XZ+ DT, which comes with a Dual Tone roof, is priced at INR 13.14 lakh ex-showroom.

The Tata Nexon EV, on the other hand, comes with XM, XZ+XZ+ LUX, Dark XZ+, and Dark XZ+ LUX trim options. The entry-level XM starts at INR 13.99 lakh ex-showroom. The XZ+ comes with a price tag of INR 15.65 lakh ex-showroom. The XZ+ LUX comes with a price tag of INR 16.65 lakh ex-showroom. The Dark edition Nexon EV starts at 15.99 lakh ex-showroom for the Dark XZ+ and INR 16.85 lakh ex-showroom for the top-spec Dark XZ+ LUX.

Tata Tigor EV Vs. Nexon EV – Powertrain, Battery Specification & Range

Powering the Tata Tigor EV is a 55 kW (75 PS) electric motor that produces 170 Nm of torque. The motor draws power from a 26 kWh liquid-cooled high energy density battery pack. Tata claims that the Tigor EV will return a range of 306 km on a single charge under standard test conditions by the ARAI. The Tata Nexon EV comes with a 129 PS power electric motor that produces 245 Nm of torque. The motor draws power from a liquid-cooled 30.2 kWh high energy density lithium-ion battery pack. The battery on the electric SUV returns a range of an ARAI tested 312 km on a single charge.

Tata Tigor EV Vs. Nexon EV – Dimensions

The Tata Tigor measures 3993 mm in length, 1677 mm in width and 1532 mm in height. The Tigor EV is based on the internal combustion engine counterpart, and we believe that the dimensions of the EV will remain similar to the ICE Tigor. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV measures 3993 mm in length, 1811 mm in width and 1606 mm in height. The SUV comes with a 2498 mm wheelbase and 205 mm of ground clearance. 

Tata Tigor EV Vs. Nexon EV – Charging Time

Both the Tata Tigor EV and the Nexon EV come with CCS2 charging. The battery supports both fast chargers and slow chargers. On a fast charger, the Tigor EV and Nexon EV can recharge from 0-80% state of charge in just under one hour. The cars are also capable of recharging on a 15A socket at home. The Tigor EV takes approximately 8.5 hours to charge from 0% to 80% capacity on a home socket. On the other hand, the Nexon EV can achieve a 0-90% state of charge in the same charging time.
