Tata Tigor EV – A Brief Overview

The electric mobility segment is picking up pace in terms of sales figures. Tata Motors is one of the leading players in this space. Both its offerings, Tigor EV and Nexon EV, are selling in good numbers. Tigor EV is currently the only sedan EV in the Indian market. Tata Motors is using a 26 kWh liquid-cooled, IP 67 rated, high energy density battery pack.

The performance figure of the motor reads as 74 BHP and 170 Nm. Tata Motors claims an ARAI certified range of 306 km. In real life, driving, one can expect a range of around 180 km to 200 km. Using a fast charger, the battery gets charged from 0 to 80 per cent in around 65 minutes. Meanwhile, using a 15A standard plug, the same takes 8 hours and 45 minutes.

Future Looks Promising For Electric Cars

With the influx of electric scooters in the market, we are witnessing the same trend in the four-wheeler segment as well. Mass market car makers like MG, Hyundai and Tata Motors have already entered the EV space with their offerings. And soon, a host of other car makers will join in. The recent launch of the facelift ZS EV is an indicator that carmakers are quite positive about the future of electric cars in India. Tata Motors has some plans to launch the electric version of the Altroz. Although we do not have any official update, this introduction will definitely help boost the sales, as hatchbacks do sell significantly in the country.
