Tata Tiago & Tigor will get full digital speedometer cluster

Written by Parichay Malvankar

The Tata Tigor and Tiago have given the brand a much needed boost in sales. Thanks to both these mass market compact cars, the sales numbers have boosted the manufacturer ranking for Tata Motors in terms of outright sales performance. Now, while we know that the Tiago and Tigor a due for a facelift, an image leaked on the internet reveals the biggest change to happen inside of these two cars.

The Tiago and Tigor are expected to get full digital instrument clusters. The leaked image reveals a full white backlit digital meter along with a digital display in the center. To the left you have a digital tachometer while to your right you get a digital fuel gauge. The central MID display shows you data such as speed, driving modes, odometer, trip meter, mileage meters, tell tale lights, speed warning alerts and the likes.

Now, does this look good? That is subjective to personal taste. But for the mass market on a budget, this digital display for potential Tata car buyers could turn out to be a fancy little feature and a marketing / selling point.

On the outside, the Tata Tiago and Tigor facelift will have cosmetic changes made based on the IMPACT 2.0 design language, something similar to the upcoming Altroz premium hatchback. So expect smoked headlamps and tail lamps, dual tone alloy wheels, etc.

The Tata Tiago and Tigor are currently running on BSIV compliant engines, but only the petrol engine is expected to be made BSVI compliant. The current 1.2L, Revotron, 3-cylinder gasoline motor produces 84 BHP of power and 114 Nm of torque matched to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or one can also buy a 5-speed AMT automatic variant.

Recently, the Tiago and Tigor were given the ConnectNext 12.7 cm touchscreen infotainment system developed by Harman. You get 4 speakers along with bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
