Tata Tiago EV deliveries begin in 133 cities

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Tata Motors has started the deliveries for its Tiago EV Hatchback. This is a pan-India process and deliveries are taking place as we write this. As of now around 2,000 units have been delivered in the first batch across 133 cities. Tata Motors mentioned that they have received over 20,000 bookings for the Tiago EV so far. Noteworthy to mention, the first 10,000 came in the first day itself.

Introductory Prices To Stay

At launch, Tata mentioned that the introductory prices are applicable on the first batch of 10,000 bookings. But now with the positive response from the customers, they are now extending the introductory prices to another 10,000 customers. Thus, prices for the Tiago EV fall in the range of INR 8.49 to INR 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Tiago EV Battery Options

Customers can have the Tiago EV in two battery pack options. These are 19.2kWh and 24kWh. Currently, Tata Motors is prioritising deliveries of the latter first. But we understand that the deliveries of the Tiago EV with the smaller battery will start somewhere in early March.

Tata Tiago EV Waiting Periods

As per our sources, the current waiting period for the Tiago EV long-range stands at four months. Furthermore, the colour shades, ‘Tropical Mist’ and ‘Teal Blue’ are the most sought-after.

Given the popularity of EVs in India. The Tiago EV takers are not just from the key metro cities. In fact, Tata Motors mentioned that the Tiago EV is getting significant interest from 2nd tier cities and towns. This includes states like Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Madya Pradesh. This is a new trend which was not the case with Nexon EV and Tigor EV. WE understand, given the lower entry-level pricing for the Tiago EV. A wider section of the audience is now getting more inclined towards getting an EV.

But, this does not mean that the EV charging network has gotten better. There’s still a lot of improvement to be done in this aspect. And the lack of charging infrastructure continues for a large section of the audience to stay away from electric vehicles.
