Key highlights

  •  First Harrier.ev rolls out of Pune; customer deliveries begin late July 2025
  • Two battery packs—65 kWh and 75 kWh—claim up to 627 km range and 25‑minute 0‑80 % fast charge
  • Prices begin at INR 21.49 lakh, undercutting Mahindra BE 6 and BYD Atto 3

Tata Motors has switched on the production line for the Harrier.ev, its new flagship electric SUV. The first unit left the company’s Pune plant this week, setting the stage for national deliveries in July 2025.

Battery choices and performance

Unlike the diesel‑based Harrier, the EV rides on Tata’s acti.ev+ skateboard and offers two lithium‑ion packs—65 kWh and 75 kWh. Tata claims an ARAI range of 538 km for the smaller pack and 627 km for the larger one. Both support 120 kW DC fast charging that tops up from 0 to 80 percent in roughly 25 minutes, placing it among the quickest in its bracket. A rear‑motor layout is standard; a dual‑motor AWD variant joins the line‑up in the Stealth Edition.

Pricing and variants

The Harrier.ev opens at INR 21.49 lakh for the RWD Adventure trim and stretches to INR 30.23 lakh for the AWD Stealth Edition. Four exterior shades—Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pristine White and Pure Grey—return, while the new matte‑black Stealth package brings darkened alloys and a blackout cabin.

Cabin tech and safety

Inside, a 14.5‑inch touchscreen pairs with a 10.25‑inch digital cluster. Tata’s latest ZConnect suite adds 5G telematics, bi‑directional V2L and V2V, and Level 2 ADAS with 22 functions. The optional 540‑degree camera projects under‑body visuals, handy for rock crawls and mall ramps alike.

Market context

Electric SUV sales jumped 47 percent last fiscal, fuelled by state incentives and corporate fleet demand. Analysts expect the segment to cross the one‑lakh‑unit mark in FY27 if battery prices slide under $90 kWh. Tata, Mahindra and BYD now control over 70 percent of bookings in the midsize EV space.
