Tata Punch in huge demand, 8 month waiting period

Tata Motors launched its first-ever micro-SUV, the Punch, at INR 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom) in October 2021 for India. The beginning of November suggested that prospective customers faced a waiting period of around four months for the Punch. However, based on a leaked document, the waiting period for the new Punch ranges between 6 weeks to 36 weeks.

Prospective customers who booked the top-spec Creative variant of the Punch will face a waiting period of around six weeks. Meanwhile, the expected billing date for the Pure with Rhythm customization pack of the micro-SUV ranges between 24 and 36 weeks, respectively. Tata offers the Punch in 4 variants- Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative.

2021 Tata Punch: Design Highlights

Using Tata’s renowned ALFA-ARC platform, the Punch features split-design projector headlamps with LED DRLs on top. With the front elements connected via Tata’s ‘Humanity Line’ chrome strip, the Punch resembles the Tata Harrier and the Safari. To accentuate its SUV status, the Punch features full-body claddings, roof rails along with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Thanks to the ALFA-ARC platform, the Punch achieved a full 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP crash safety test. Towards the rear, the car features 90-degree opening doors with door-mounted handles inspired by the Altroz for easy ingress/egress. To complete the SUV look, the Punch features flared wheel arches, rear LED taillights and side-profile creases.

Currently, the Punch sports a single 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine with Tata Motors’ latest Dyna-Pro technology.
