Tata Motors has announced that its Nexon and Punch SUVs have emerged as the top SUVs in the Indian market for the FY2024. The Nexon and Punch SUVs have ranked number 1 and number 2 in the SUV category, respectively, in India for FY2024. In addition to this, Tata also revealed that the Punch became the number 1 selling car in March and April 2024. In addition to this, the Tata Nexon has not only ranked as the number 1 SUV in its segment in 2024, but also the brand is celebrating its 7-year anniversary with more than 7 lakh unit sales milestone. Furthermore, the Nexon.ev and Punch.ev have also become the first electric SUVs to achieve 5-star BNCAP rating. This also includes the Punch.ev becoming the safest EV in the Indian market.
Nexon
Tata launched the Nexon SUV back in 2017, offering performance as well as comfort. The Nexon SUV also set new benchmarks in the segment in terms of safety. The SUV became the India’s 1st GNCAP 5 star rated vehicle in 2018. The Nexon continued the safety legacy when in Feb 2024, the new generation Nexon received the 5 star rating from the GNCAP, as per the enhanced 2022 protocol. This month, the all-electric version of the Nexon also set new benchmarks for the EV industry as it received the 5-star rating from Bharat-NCAP. The brand has not only set new standards in the automotive industry with the Nexon but the car also has received 41 coveted awards. The Tata Nexon is available with petrol, diesel and electric power train options.
Punch
The Tata Punch is currently leading the sub-compact SUV segment with sales of 170,076 units in FY24. Thanks to this, the Punch also became the number 1 selling car in the industry, in March 2024. The brand also reveals that within the segment, the industry has witnessed a rise from 4% to 7% in market share, which records 8% to 14% in the bigger SUV market. The Punch too, is has the highest safety rating in its segment with a 5- star GNCAP rating. In addition to this, the Punch.ev also recently received a 5-star BNCAP rating, making the sub-compact SUV on of India’s safest vehicles.
