Tata Nexon EV price hiked by INR 26,000

Tata Motors India has revised the pricing on the Tata Nexon EV (Electric Vehicle) in the Indian market. This is the first time the brand has hiked its prices. The mid-spec trim XZ+ and the top-end XZ+ LUX trim have received the price hike which is approximately INR 26,000 on the ex-showroom price. The base XM trim price remains unchanged. The Tata Nexon XZ+ is now priced INR 15.25 lakh ex-showroom and the XZ+ LUX is priced INR 16.25 lakh ex-showroom. The base variant sees no price hike and is still priced at INR 13.99 lakh ex-showroom. 

The Tata Nexon EV is powered by an IP67 rated Liquid-cooled Permanenet Magnet Synchronous Motor coupled to a 30.2 kWh High energy density Lithium ion battery pack that produces 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque paired to a single speed gearbox and Multi Drive modes. The EV also features smart regenerative braking, hill ascent assist and hill decent assist. The Tata Nexon Ev comes with CCS 2 standard charging and takes an estimated 8.5 hours to charge from a 10% SOC to 90% from any 15 A plug point and an estimated 60 minutes for SOC 0%-80% on a fast charging system. The Tata Nexon EV comes with 312 km of driving range as per MIDC Cycle.

On the outside, the Tata Nexon EV is based on the standard Internal Combustion Engine powered Nexon and comes with a few distinguishing features such as blue accents on the Tri-Arrow grille, blue accented front apron and on the fog lamp housing. The DLO area also comes with a blue accent denoting that the car runs on electric power, On the inside, the Nexon EV features a leatherette upholstery with the tri-arrow theme, flat-bottomed leather wrapped steering wheel, cooled and illuminated glove box, 7-inch digital fully digital instruments cluster, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration etc. 

Though Tata also retails the Tigor EV in the electric vehicle segment the Tigor EV is only retailed to fleet and cab operators. The Tata Nexon EV is the only option from the brand available for private use and the marque has sold more than 1,100 units of the electric vehicle in India capturing more than 61% of market share. The Tata Nexon EV competes with the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric which have a market share of nearly 27% and 5%, respectively.
