The feat had been achieved in 6 months of the launch. In addition, the brand also announced that Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a Super Energy Service Company (ESCO) under the administrative control of Ministry of Power, Government of India had procured 150 Tata Nexon EVs for Government use. Recently, the Government of Kerala also procured 65 Tata Nexon EVs for the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD).

The Tata Nexon EVs success in the Indian market underlies with plenty of reasons. The first being that the Nexon EV is the country’s first indigenously developed electric SUV with a long-range powertrain and premium features. The Tata Nexon EV features automatic headlamps with ambient and tunnel detection as well as follow me home features for safety. The Electic SUV also comes with a powered sunroof, leatherette seats, 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instruments cluster.

The Tata Nexon EV is based on the brand’s Impact design 2.0 and sets itself apart by featuring Blue accents on the grille, DLO area badges etc. The Blue denotes that the car uses electricity to power itself as well as its eco-friendly nature. The Nexon EV in terms of its design is similar to the internal combustion engine-powered Tata Nexon. In terms of its powertrain, the Tata Nexon EV features an IP76 rated Dust and Waterproof, liquid-cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that is coupled to a 30.2 kWh High energy density Lithium-ion battery pack that develops 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque paired to a single-speed gearbox and Multi-Drive modes. The Nexon EV can achieve 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds.

The Nexon EV can be charged using a CCS2 fast charger with 24/7 emergency charging support. To further lower the ownership anxiety Tata Motors also offers an 8 years / 1.6L km warranty on the battery and motor of the Nexon EV. The electric SUV also features safety equipment such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, reinforced body structure. The EV has also been tested rigorously across 1 Million km across the toughest terrains in India that covers unpaved roads, high altitude places, extreme weather conditions etc.

Tata is also working with other Tata Group companies which include Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Motors Finance, Tata Autocomp and Croma to accelerate EV adoption in the Indian market. The brand is looking forward to creating an e-mobility ecosystem, Tata uniEVerse.
