Tata Motors will deploy 1,000 XPRES T EVs for cab services in Eastern India

Tata Motors Limited has announced its partnership with EC Wheels India Private Ltd, which is an Associate of Steelman Group. This is an app-based urban transportation service in Kolkata. Under this deal, Tata will deploy 1,000 XPRES T Electric sedans for cab transportation. Tata Motors has a commanding EV market share of 90 per cent in the east. And the signing of this MoU makes for the biggest ever EV fleet order in this region. As part of this MoU, Tata Motors will start off the deliveries in phases.

Tata Motors XPRES

Tata Motors, in July 2021, launched the XPRES brand exclusively for fleet customers. The XPRES-T electric sedan is available with 2 range options – 213km and 165km as per ARAI certified range under test conditions. XPRES-T EV gets a battery pack of either 21.5 kWh or 16.5 kWh. The charging time for 0 to 80 per cent is around 90 mins and 110 mins, respectively. And this is with the use of fast charging. Customers also have the option of normal 15A socket charging, thus adding to the convenience.

The electric sedan comes with zero tail-pipe emission, single-speed automatic transmission, ABS with EBD, and dual airbags as standard. The premium black theme interior with standard automatic climate control and Electric Blue accents across its exterior and interior act as differentials when compared to other Tata products.

Tata Motors’ Game Strong In The EV Segment

Tata Motors is playing a pivotal role in revolutionizing the Indian automotive market, especially in the EV segment. The company had a market share of 87 per cent in FY ’22, with over 30,000 Tata EVs on road to date, both in the personal and fleet segments. Moreover, Tata Motors is also closely working with other Tata Group companies, including Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Auto Components, Tata Motors Finance and Croma. All these efforts will contribute to the faster adoption of EVs in India through its EV ecosystem called the ‘Tata uniEVerse’.
