Tata Motors sold 1,751 electric vehicles in November 2021

Indian automotive giant, Tata Motors has announced its November 2021 sales report which showcases a massive growth for electric vehicles. Compared to November 2020 where Tata Motors sold 413 EVs, the automaker sold 1,751 EVs in November 2021. This indicates that Tata Motors achieved a 324% increase in EV sales when compared to its 2020 sales.

Currently, Tata Motors’ EV portfolio consists of the Nexon and Tigor EV with the former gaining more popularity. This increasing popularity was one of the reasons why the Nexon EV was the best-selling EV of 2020. Over the next 5 years, Tata Motor plans to launch 10 new EVs and raise INR 7,500 crore.

Tata Nexon EV: Detailed Highlights

Tata offers the Nexon in 6 trim options- XM, XZ+, XZ+ LUX, Dark XZ+, and Dark XZ+ LUX. The automaker has priced the base XM variant of the Nexon at INR 14.24 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the top-spec Dark XZ+ LUX variant of the Nexon EV costs INR 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the Fame II regulations, customers of the Nexon EV receive a 15% rebate on the overall cost.

Tata Motors has implemented a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which features IP67 waterproof and dust certification. Powering the Nexon EV is a 3 Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which produces 129 PS and 245 Nm. Based on ARAI testing, the Nexon EV offers a driving range of 312 Km on a single charge. Overall, the Nexon EV measures 3993mm in length, 1811mm in width, and 1606mm in height along with a 2498mm wheelbase.

In terms of charging, the Nexon EV features CCS2 charging which allows it to support fast and slow chargers. Customers can use the fast charger to charge the Nexon EV from 0-80% in under an hour. Using the regular 15 A charging socket, customers can charge the Nexon EV from 0-80% in approximately 8.5 hours.

With a ground clearance of 205mm, the Nexon EV uses the brand’s renowned Alfa platform with a reinforced body structure. The Nexon EV is also the first Indian electric SUV to achieve a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. Other exterior elements of the Nexon EV include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, a sunroof, projector headlamps, and fog lamps. In terms of features, the Nexon EV sports dual airbags, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and ABS with EBD.
