Tata Motors has launched the next-generation connected vehicle solution for its Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment called Tata Motors Fleet Edge. Tata Motors has been using telematics solutions in its vehicles since 2012 and more than 2,00,000 M&HCV Tata vehicles have been fitted with telematics units from the factory, till date.
The brand has now introduced a new-generation connected vehicle solutions that have the capability of processing vast amounts of data generated by the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) taking the connected solutions to the next level. The new-generation Telematics Control Unit Fleet Edge offers real-time insights for track and trace, vehicle health, driving behaviour, real-time fuel efficiency and fuel loss alert. Using Tata Motors Fleet Edge customers will also be able to track renewal dates of important vehicle documents ensuring reduced downtime.
The Tata Motors Fleet Edge enables customers to get insights of all the abovementioned features in real-time through a user-friendly digital interface ensuring efficient operation. The Tata Motors Fleet Edge is also available and accessible through a smartphone application where information is available on a real-time basis.
The Tata Motors Fleet Edge is available on BS6 compliant range of Tata Connected trucks which are armed with the latest embedded SIM technology. The Fleet Edge telematics control units are AIS140 compliant and offer safety and security functions including the emergency buttons and vehicle location tracking communication to Government-authorised backend servers.
The Tata Motors Fleet Edge system provides end-to-end connected experience for better control over the business operation ensuring the fleet owner is always connected to the driver and vehicle using the fully integrated backend technology through Tata Motors. The system also offers safety and security as it can monitor unauthorised vehicle movement and determines the exact location of the vehicle with a user-friendly graphical map.
In other news, Tata Motors Limited announced their sales performance for Q1 of FY 2021 and the Commercial Vehicle (CV) segment has seen a decline of 90% as the brand sold 10,476 units in Q1 FY21 as compared to 1,00,357 units sold in Q1 FY20.
