Tata Motors files 125 patents & secures 56 grants in FY22

Tata Motors announced filing a record number of 125 patents in FY22, which is the highest ever in its history. Also, the company received a grant of 56 patents during the same time period. Tata Motors, hence, reaffirms its commitment to fostering innovation, research and advanced engineering.

The patents filed include a diverse range of innovations and development. These include traditional and also new energy powertrain technologies. Others include connected vehicle technologies, safety, body in white (BIW), trims, and other vehicle systems. 

Tata Motors’ Research & Development

Tata Motors has a rich history of pioneering technology and engineering solutions. The company has also consistently made “ahead-of-the-curve” investments in new technologies. This allows the company to focus on enabling future-ready mobility. For example, Tata Motors was one of the first carmakers to bring an EV to the Indian market. And now, it has the biggest market share in India.

Tata’s R&D capabilities allow it to invent new technologies and to have success in developing class-defining vehicles in passenger and commercial vehicles. The customers also cherish these innovations. Hence, it allows Tata to improve its market share. Furthermore, it has also become the industry benchmark.

  • Two CII GreenCo awards for the Tata Motors at the 8th Edition of the CII National Award for Environment Best Practices (2021)
  • The “Special Appreciation Award” in “7th CII Industrial Intellectual Property Award Ceremony” in November 2021
  • The IP Excellence Award, 2021, accorded by Questel, in recognition of Tata Motors’ valuable contribution as an Innovation-Driven Organization
  • Excellence award – 46th International convention on Quality Circles -2021
