Tata Motors & Mahindra extend service & warranty periods amidst Covid-19 pandemic

Indian car brands Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors have announced that the brands will honour vehicle warranties past their expiration. This is in view of the nation-wide lockdown imposed by the Government of India with effect from 25th of March 2020 for a period of 21 days. The lockdown has been imposed to contain the world-wide pandemic caused by the CoronaVirus Disease which can spread infection at a notorious rate. 

Tata Motors has decided to extend its warranty dates for customers whose Original Equipment warrant and service dates are due to expire between 15th of March 2020 and 31st of May 2020. Customers whose warranty or service date expires between the aforementioned period will automatically get an extension till 31 July 2020. Tata Motors has also announced that their service team will contact its customers regarding the same. 

Similarly, Mahindra & Mahindra have also announced that the brand will be extending the warranty period and the scheduled maintenance dates of its customers even if the warranty and service due dates are past expiries. While Mahindra has not given a specific date but it is safe to assume that the expired warranties and scheduled maintenance are likely to be extended till the month of July. 

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, all manufacturers across the country have shut down their respective plants in the interest of safety and to curb with virus spread among its employees, collaborators and customers. Tata Motors and Mahindra have also shut down their manufacturing facilities, dealerships and service centres across the country but are providing emergency customer support through their digital platforms. 

As of today, there is no vaccine for the COVID-19 and to help protect yourself from COVID-19, practice social distancing, wash hands regularly using soap & water, cough or sneeze in a disposable tissue and in the impending situation where one needs to use a vehicle to buy groceries, medicines and daily essentials sanitise the interiors of your car and it’s frequently touched surfaces with soap & water or an alcohol-based rub before and after use, to avoid infection. 

In case if you feel sick, get in touch with your local healthcare provider, monitor your symptoms, avoid social contact, avoid going to public places, use a separate bathroom if possible and follow the instructions given by health care personnel.
