Tata Motors has introduced the brand’s latest product in the M&HCV segment, the Signa 3118.T 3-axle 6×2 truck. The brand will be launching the Signa 3118.T in phases across states and markets. The Tata Motors Signa 3118.T 3-axle 6×2 truck is available in the Signa version with Lx, Cx variants and a cowl trim as well. The brand offers the Signa 3118.T in two load spans a 24-feet and a 32-feet. The Tata Signa 3118.T also comes with a standard driveline warranty of 6 Years/6-lakh kilometres as well as assured Value Added Services and service promises under the Sampoorna Seva 2.0 initiative.

The Tata Signa 3118.T claims to be the country’s first 3-axle 6×2 (10 wheeler) rigid truck with a capacity of 31 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). The higher certified payload is not only more than the similar 28-tonne GVW rigid truck but also comes with an equivalent cost of operation, tyre wear, fuel consumption and cost of maintenance. But compared to a corresponding 28-tonne vehicle the Signa 3118.T increases the net operating profit by ~45% over a 28-tonne truck. The brand claims that the incremental investment can be recovered in less than one year of operations followed by incremental earnings, offering a unique blend of value.
Applications
The Tata Signa 3118.T comes with a 12.5-tonne dual tyre lift axle configuration and is capable of operating at 31-tonne GVW with the lift axle down and at 18.5-tonne GVW with the lift axle up configuration. This feature allows a wide range of operating payload for various applications such as in the lift axle up configuration the Signa 3118.T is beneficial for tanker operations as the truck can yield a high fuel economy on empty return runs. The Signa 3118.T truck is suitable for all types of tanker applications including petroleum, oil and lubricants (POL), chemicals, bitumen, water, milk, edible oil, as well as lubricants, packed LPG cylinders, agricultural products etc.

Powering the Tata Motors Signa 3118.T is a Cummins BS6 engine that is capable of pushing out 186 Hp of power and 850 Nm of torque that comes with a G950 6-speed transmission and heavy-duty axles. The Signa 3118.T comes with features such as a fuel economy switch, gear shift advisor, ICGT brakes, reverse parking assistance, Fleet Edge telematics system with in-built anti-fuel theft, unitised wheel bearings and air-conditioning.
