Tata Motors has announced the launch of a new base variant of its popular compact SUV, the Nexon. The new variant is priced INR 1.1 lakh lower than the existing base model, making it an attractive proposition. The launch of this new variant comes after Mahindra launched the XUV 3XO at a starting price of INR 7.49 lakh
New Variants
The new Nexon variant is called the Smart (O) and is available with the petrol engine. Tata offered the Nexon diesel only in the Pure persona before however, they have introduced the diesel in the Smart person as well. The Smart (O) petrol is priced at INR 7.99 lakh ex-showroom which is INR 1.1 lakh lower than the previous base variant Smart. This variant gets 6-airbags, ESP, LED headlamps and taillamps, DRLs, driving modes, and reverse guiding sensors. The Snart (O) will come with a 5-speed manual transmission only.
The diesel engine in the Smart + persona is priced at INR 9.99 lakh ex-showroom which is INR 1.1 lakh cheaper than the previous diesel base Pure persona. This variant is available only with the 6-speed manual transmission. In the Smart + guise, the Nexon gets a 7-inch Harman infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4 speakers Reverse Camera, a Shark fin antenna, steering mounted controls, all four power windows, and an electrically adjustable ORVM.
There is another variant in the form of Smart + S diesel that is priced at INR 10.59 lakh ex-showroom. In addition to all the features on the Smart + diesel, this one gets Auto headlamps, voice-assisted sunroof, and rain-sensing wipers.
Price Cut on other variants
Tata has not only introduced affordable variants, they have also cut down prices of some of the existing ones. The Smart + petrol variant is now priced at INR 8.89 lakh as opposed to the previous INR 9.92 lakh. Even after getting a price cut of INR 31,000, Tata has included a reversing camera in this variant. The Smart + S petrol has got a INR 41,000 price cut and is now priced at INR 9.39 lakh.
