Tata Motors has multiple star product concepts to showcase tomorrow. While one is the already dropped TaMo RaCeMo concept which will be on display just as an eye candy, the other 7-seater SUV, 5-seater crossover & a premium hatchback is what interests us. And ahead of the unveiling event tomorrow, an image has leaked online revealing the H5X SUV concept.
Styling based on Tata Motors’ Impact 2.0, the H5X does look quite premium and a good evolution over the already funky Nexon compact-SUV. Internally codenamed as the Q501 & Q502 (7-seater), the new SUV from Tata Motors stable will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta in the 5-seater segment and the XUV500 in the 7-seater segment. Also, another rival to fend off would be the Jeep Compass which is gaining popularity by the day.
This new SUV will share the underpinnings from the Land Rover Discovery Sport, and this platform has been codenamed as L550. We’ve already seen multiple sypshots of this SUV running with the body shell of a Discovery Sport. We are expecting the H5X SUV to be powered by a 2.0L, Fiat-sourced, Multijet diesel motor with 180 HP on tap for the 7-seater model and 140 HP for the 5-seater model. Expect 6-speed manual & automatic gearbox options for the H5X.
The Tata H5X SUV will introduce quite a few segment-first features. We’re already expecting the likes of LED headlamps & tail lamps, touchscreen infotainment, ABS, EBD, 4×4, multiple airbags, climate control, driving modes, etc., but Tata Motors will surely bring in new features.
From the leaked image, you can see LED headlamps, LED DRLs, skid plates, large dual tone alloy wheels, floating roof effect, sunroof, bold crease lines, sporty C-pillar styling, etc.
So, are you looking forward to check out the Tata Motors H5X? They will also reveal a rival for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and this would be huge considering the amount of success the Tata Tiago has seen.
