Tata Motors has launched the much-anticipated Tata Curvv in India, with prices starting at an attractive INR 9.99 lakh. This is a limited period introductory price which will be available on all Curvv ICE models.
Design and Features
The Tata Curvv stands out with its coupe-SUV design which combines the ruggedness of an SUV with the sleek lines of a coupe. The vehicle is built on Tata’s new ATLAS platform, ensuring a robust and dynamic driving experience. The exterior features a distinctive front grille, sleek LED headlamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a bold and modern look.
Inside, the Curvv offers a premium experience with a dual-tone burgundy and black cabin. The dashboard is equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a nine-speaker JBL sound system, and a wireless phone charger. The higher trims also offer ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting, enhancing the overall luxury feel.
Engine and Performance
The Tata Curvv is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol options include a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, and a new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo petrol engine delivering 123 bhp and 225 Nm of torque. The diesel variant is powered by a 1.5-litre engine generating 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. All engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, making the Curvv the first diesel car in its segment to offer a dual-clutch automatic option.
Safety and Technology
Tata is synonymous with making safe cars. The vehicle comes equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Other safety features include all-disc brakes, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Tata also claims that they are confident the Curvv will score 5 stars at the BNCAP rating.
Market Positioning and Competition
Priced between INR 9.99 lakh and INR 17.69 lakh, the Tata Curvv is positioned to compete with popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. It’s prime rival in its own segment is the recently launched Citroen Basalt which does not get a diesel option. The introductory prices are applicable for bookings made until October 31, 2024.
