Tata cars on ATLAS platform can allow 4X4 hardware

Tata recently launched the Curvv Coupe SUV in the Indian market. At the time of its launch the brand announced that the Curvv coupe SUV will come with both ICE and EV powertrains. In addition to this, Tata Motors also announced that the Curvv with the internal combustion engine (ICE) will come with the new ATLAS platform. ATLAS is (Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture) which is the company’s latest platform.

ATLAS is 4×4 Capable?

Tata also revealed that the ATLAS platform features a cutting-edge design as well as advanced technology. Tata also reveals that the platform blends strength as well as elegance. Now, reports reveal that the new ATLAS platform is also capable of underpinning different body styles such as sedans as well as MPVs. In addition to this, the ATLAS platform has also been optimized for “genuine SUV capabilities.” However, the brand is not offering any 4×4 capabilities with the ATLAS underpinned Curvv ICE. But, according to sources the Chief Product Officer and Vice President of Tata Motors PV LTD in an interview revealed that the “ATLAS can be made 4×4 with some changes.”

Will Nexon in Future be 4×4?

Reports reveal that the ATLAS platform may have been spawned or drawn inspiration from the Nexon platform but the Nexon. This has been deduced by the commonality of the powertrain and other parts such as dashboard, reveal sources. Furthermore, the ATLAS architecture will also underpin the future Nexon as well as the Sierra. This leads us t believe that the next-generation Nexon could come with 4×4 capability. The platform is also capable of accommodating a larger tyre size with a 740mm outer diameter and rims of upto 20-inches of diameter. Also, the Atlas is capable of underpinning vehicles between 3.7-metres to 4.7-metres in length, revealed sources.
