Tata Avinya EV launch details
A recently published online report has revealed that Tata is planning to launch the Avinya EV in 2027. Earlier, the Avinya was planned for 2025, but it got delayed due to Land Rover not finalising their EV production plant in Tamil Nadu.
The Avinya will bring a complete range of new Tata electric cars, which, unlike the current EVs, will get a new EMA platform. This platform was earlier being developed with Land Rover, and it was scheduled to be manufactured along with the upcoming Land Rover electric cars in Tamil Nadu.
However, reports surfaced earlier this year, hinting that Land Rover has discarded the Tamil Nadu production plant due to the sub-standard vendor materials. Now, Tata is left with no other option than to develop its own EMA platform, which the company is already in the process with.
Speaking of the Avinya EV range models, there are 5 other EVs aligned after Avinya. These are codenamed P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5. Tata also showcased the Avinya X crossover-coupe concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 this year.
The EMA platform will allow new designs, spacious cabins, and flat floors for more comfort. As of now, Tata has recently launched the Harrier EV with a 627 km range and an AWD package.
Moreover, for 2025, Tata has aligned the Sierra EV launch, which is set to happen before or around the festive season later this year.
Our verdict
Tata’s electric passenger cars have done wonders for the company. The EV product lineup has not only added sales to the brand’s wallet, but it has also helped in evolving Tata’s brand image from a regular carmaker to a premium carmaker. The upcoming Avinya EV will elevate this image further.
