Tata Altroz Racer variant to launch soon

Tata Motors has just confirmed that the Altroz Racer will be launched soon. The official Instagram handle of Tata Altroz posted this information via a comment. That said, prices for the sportier variant of the Altroz haven’t been released yet.

Tata Altroz Racer : More Details

The Altroz Racer looks pretty much the same in terms of exterior styling as the regular Altroz. That said, there are some differentiating highlights. These include an electrically adjustable sunroof with voice assist, blacked-out roof and bonnet with twin white racing stripes as well as Racer badges on the front fenders. Coming to the rear, the Altroz Racer comes with an aggressive rear spoiler and a shark fin antenna.

On the inside, the Altroz Racer gets a brand-new 10.25-inch touchscreen unit with new software. Furthermore, it also gets a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, ventilated front seats, six airbags, wireless charging and an air purifier as standard. The Altroz Racer gets an all-black upholstery with red contrast stitching, red and white stripes, and Racer embossing on the head restraints.

Powertrain of the Tata Altroz Racer

One of the key highlights of the Altroz Racer is its engine option. Though it continues to get the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as the Altroz iTurbo, the motor has been retuned. This motor now makes 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque which is 10 HP and 30 Nm more than the iTurbo.

Interestingly, the Altroz Racer is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, instead of the 5-speed manual that is found in the iTurbo. As of now, there is no confirmation if it will get the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Rivals of the Tata Altroz Racer

The Tata Altroz Racer will rival the Hyundai i20 N Line. This is not the first time Tata has come up with a higher performance version of a regular car. Back in the day, there was the Indica with a rear engine, but it definitely wasn’t road legal. Recently however, the Tiago and Tigor JTP twins were more performance oriented than the regular versions. Sadly, they were discontinued.
