Indian automaker, Tata Motors unveiled the Altroz CNG at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023. As seen in the images, the display model wears the Opulent Red colour. Most of the styling elements are pretty much the same as the regular standard model. Thus we see the changes as only the inclusion of a CNG kit.
What Is The Tata Altroz CNG?
The Altroz CNG too will continue to use the Alfa platform. The premium hatchback gets familiar styling elements as the standard model. This includes well-defined front wheel arches and sharp shoulder creases that run across the length of the vehicle. Moreover, the hatchback continues to sport black-finished sills that run below the windows known as the ‘shooting star beltline’. The main highlight of the front fascia is a dark-chrome slate above the grille, which is integrated with the swept-back headlamps.
Tata Motors has not revealed the mechanical details of the Altroz CNG. However, it is believed that the CNG version will most likely use the 1.2-litre Revotron naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The engine makes 85 BHP at 6,000rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. In the CNG mode, the above-mentioned power output figures are likely to vary.
Demand High For CNG Powertrain
With the recent demand for alternative options for ICE powertrains. CNG is getting increasingly popular. Not just Tata Motors, but a host of other carmakers too have shifted their focus towards CNG powertrains. Recently we saw Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai taking big steps in the CNG segment. And now, Tata Motors is going all out to expand its CNG model portfolio. With the rise in fuel prices and customer sentiments going against traditional fuel options, CNG has a very promising future. Vehicles with CNG fuel are much more environmentally friendly than petrol/diesel and at the same time, refuelling is much less hassle than an electric vehicle.
